Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the pop, click, or crack sound during an adjustment?
That sound is not your bones “crunching” together—it's simply air releasing from the joint space, much like opening a jar. This is completely normal and not necessarily an indicator of a successful adjustment. Some adjustments create sound, while others—especially in individuals with chronic tension—may be silent and just as effective.

Once I start seeing a chiropractor, do I have to go forever?
Not at all. Many people begin care to address a specific issue and see improvement quickly. However, lasting change takes time, as it involves retraining the nervous system and muscle memory. Most of our patients choose to continue with wellness care because they feel better and want to maintain their progress—just like brushing your teeth to prevent cavities.

Do adjustments hurt?
Chiropractic adjustments are generally gentle and safe. Some people experience temporary soreness, increased symptoms, or changes in sensation as their body adjusts. These responses are normal and typically short-lived.
We’ll guide you through what to expect and support you throughout the process.

Why do kids need chiropractic care?
Children's bodies and nervous systems are developing rapidly. Chiropractic care can support their growth, ease common issues like constipation, colic, ear infections, sleep problems, and even developmental delays.
We create a fun, welcoming environment for kids, using gentle techniques and playful interaction to help them feel comfortable and safe.

I don’t have pain—why should I see a chiropractor?
Pain is just one signal, and often not the first sign of dysfunction. Most of your nervous system controls vital daily functions like breathing and digestion—not pain. Think of chiropractic care as a way to address the root cause of imbalances before they become symptomatic, helping you stay proactive about your health.

Are you anti-medical?
Not at all. Chiropractic care is a holistic and complementary form of healthcare. We respect and collaborate with medical professionals when appropriate. Our goal is to provide natural, supportive care—and when needed, help you find the best resources or co-manage care for comprehensive support.

You use a lot of big words—what do they mean?
We aim to communicate clearly, but here are a few common terms you might hear:
-
Subluxation / Misalignment – Improper joint movement often caused by stress.
-
Adjustment / Correction – A gentle input using hands, instruments, or intention to support nervous system function.
-
Sympathetic Nervous System – Your stress response system (“fight or flight”).
-
Parasympathetic Nervous System – Your healing and rest system (“rest and digest”).

What is the Webster Technique?
The Webster Technique is a gentle chiropractic method designed specifically for pregnancy. It helps balance the pelvis and sacrum, supporting comfort and optimal space for the baby to move. Dr. Anna Miller is trained in this technique, which is often used to support better biomechanics during pregnancy and in cases of breech positioning. While it doesn’t "turn" the baby, it helps create the best possible environment for natural movement.

Cancellations & Rescheduling
We kindly ask that you make every effort to attend your scheduled appointments. Keeping your appointments not only supports your healing and care plan but also helps our team serve other patients effectively.
To help us continue providing quality care to our community, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule appointments for you or your family.

Cancellations made with more than 24 hours’ notice will not incur any fees. However, cancellations or reschedules within 24 hours of your appointment, as well as no-shows, may be charged the full cost of the scheduled service. A valid card is required at the time of booking to secure your appointment.

Please note that cancellations via email, text, or social media messages are not considered official. You are responsible for managing your appointments through our online scheduling portal. Since appointments cannot be changed within 24 hours of the scheduled time, we encourage you to plan accordingly.
We value your appointment time greatly, as cancellations reduce availability for other patients. New patients may reschedule their initial consultation and report of findings once; additional reschedules may result in referral to another office.

Late Arrivals
We appreciate your respect for our time and that of other patients. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to allow time for settling in, restroom use, and preparing for your session.

Even arriving just 5 minutes late can disrupt the doctor’s schedule and cause delays for others. It also shortens the time available to thoroughly review and address your needs.

We understand that sometimes delays are unavoidable, but with appointments scheduled tightly every 10 minutes, arriving late means losing valuable appointment time. To accommodate everyone, late arrivals will have shortened appointments.

If you arrive 10 minutes or more late, your appointment may be rescheduled and could incur a full charge depending on doctor availability.

Deposits
Some services require a non-refundable deposit, which will be applied toward your overall care costs.
For Doula services, once we agree it’s a good fit and the expected delivery date (EDD) is set, a deposit equal to half of the service fee is due.

For chiropractic patients, an $80 deposit is required for initial consultations and $40 for re-exams to secure your appointment. Appointments will not be booked without these deposits.

Established patients will have a credit card kept securely on file.

Please reschedule initial consultations at least 24 hours in advance to avoid full charges. No-shows or late cancellations may result in full charges and possible referral to another provider.

HIPAA Compliance
Your privacy is very important to us. All booking, charting, communication, and payment systems we use are fully HIPAA compliant to protect your personal health information.

For safety during home or out-of-office visits, my partner is informed of the location, as noted in the consent form.

Cost of Care
To provide the highest quality care without the limitations of insurance restrictions, The Haven does not accept insurance.

Instead, we offer cost-effective care plans and packages designed to save you time, energy, and money by focusing on prevention and holistic wellness — helping to avoid more costly medical interventions later.
Many holistic providers choose not to accept insurance because it often leads to overworked providers and compromises care quality. Additionally, insurance billing can increase costs due to administrative fees passed on to patients.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to supporting your health and wellness journey with personalized, compassionate care.
